Play Worker (Lunchtime)
Job Title: Playworker (Lunchtime)
Working Hours: Part Time 11:30am – 1:30pm Mon-Fri, term time only. (We would ideally like 5 days per week, but this is flexible)
Pay: £12.50 per hour, term time only

School for Inspiring Talents is an independent therapeutic day school operating across two sites in the South West supporting vulnerable students aged 5-16 years who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) or complex trauma.
We are passionate about providing the appropriate support, care, nurture, and educational strategies to allow our inspiring young people to truly flourish and this starts with helping our students to build trusted relationships with the staff around them. We would like our playworkers to help us by coming alongside our students to model and encourage playfulness. Did you know there are more than 16 different play types to explore?! If you didn’t, but want to learn more, this is the role for you!
You will have the benefit of working alongside our experienced therapeutic staff and be able to work with, and learn from, our Outdoor Play and Learning Lead and newly appointed Play Co-ordinator as well as access further coaching and training from our team if desired. It would be helpful if you have previous experience of working in a school setting, youth club or similar (although not essential) and be understanding of students that can exhibit high levels of anxiety or complex behaviour.
We are initially looking for people to work at our Newton Abbot site, however we are also interested in appointing those that would work at Ashburton, or potentially be able to offer flexibility between the two if required.

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Salary: £17,000 – £22,000 actual salary working term time only – 39 weeks per year (£20,238 – £26,605 FTE dependent on experience)

School for Inspiring Talents (SfIT) is an independent day school, supporting the most vulnerable young people in society aged 5-16; those children who do not find it easy to fit into existing educational provision. This can be for many reasons, including a range of behavioural, emotional and educational challenges, exacerbated by being on the autistic spectrum. Other difficulties such as sensory processing disorders, attachment disorders or those having faced trauma in their lives due to domestic violence, breakdown of foster care or adoption placements and those who are deemed school phobic.
It is our intention that every student will achieve their full potential in both academic and personal development. As a day school, we provide an alternative to residential education which supports our students to develop independence and social skills whilst living in their home environment.
As a Learning Support Assistant based at our Newton Abbot / Ashburton school(s) you will be a key member of our team, enhancing the education of our students. This is a great opportunity in a growing school with excellent opportunities to build experience working amongst young people with Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

We are keen to appoint a knowledgeable, resilient, and thus specialist Learning Support Assistant who will work with many of our students delivering out of class intervention sessions focusing primarily on Literacy.
We are looking for someone who will become a champion for the students with whom they work, being able to build nurturing relationships quickly, whilst encouraging students to engage with learning, breaking down barriers and challenges with high expectations and an understanding of SEND.
For whoever fulfils this role, consistency and reliability is key. We are looking for a skilled LSA who has a background in working with students with SEND or who has a proven track record working within an educational setting, confident in delivering targeted interventions. Training will be provided in Read Write Inc Phonics and Fresh Start – and the successful candidate will work closely alongside our class based SENDCo and Reading Lead. We would like for this candidate, over time to be upskilled in helping students with dyslexia, learning about precision teaching and other specific teaching strategies that can assist students with this learning need across the school.

In today’s dynamic educational landscape, we recognise the need to cater to the unique challenges and opportunities presented by students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with some presenting as unable to access our classroom-based school provision.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our innovative extension program, Step Change. This outreach extension program will offer a tailored support system to students who are unable to access their current educational support package, moving towards engagement with full-time regular attendance.
This role will involve the coordination and management of a caseload of students who will access this service. Initially, this role will be focussed on planning and delivery of direct casework with students, but as the service develops you will also be required to manage and support Step Change Support Workers.
